Functional description

The attenuation effect of the splitters is due to absorption and resonance.

The splitters have a mineral wool infill as absorption material. Part of the splitter surface that runs parallel to the airflow is covered with resonating panels. These panels start oscillating due to the sound (resonance) and hence absorb sound energy. Resonance works best in the frequency range of critical fan noise.

There is a higher attenuation across a wider frequency range when compared to mere absorption splitters.

The Ritz-Carlton luxury hotels lies in the direct vicinity of Red Square on Tverskaya Street, the main boulevard in this part of Moscow. The rooftop terrace on the twelfth floor provides a unique view of the Kremlin, Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral, and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. With its 334 spacious rooms and suites, the magnificent building was put up in the Imperial Russian style and offers its guests an exquisite, incomparably comfortable ambience. Inside, select materials like marble and fine woods were used.
For this project, TROX developed an energy-saving, noise-insulating air handling concept. Not just air diffusers, jet nozzles, and volume flow controllers, but also splitter sound attenuators of the MKA 100 and MKA 200 series were used. With their profiled splitter frames that promote the air flow, the latter reduces pressure losses by up to 30% in comparison with conventional splitters, which enables high energy savings during plant operation. The splitters are hygienically tested according to VDI 6022.
High demands were placed on the air conditioning system, especially in regard to comfort and noise protection. In the middle of the vibrant Russian capital, the hotel should be an oasis of peace and comfort.
